Officer of the Watch — Tactical Manoeuvres
Learn the collision regulations, handle the ship in a live top-down simulator with radar-style CPA and TCPA solutions, and be graded against explicit thresholds for early and substantial action.
Course modules
COLREGs Rules 2, 5–10 and 13–17, rule-of-thumb collision avoidance, safe speed, traffic separation, turning circles, crash stops, screw effects and MOB recovery turns. Each module ends with a quiz.

Conn your own ship against AI vessels that behave per COLREGs. Live CPA/TCPA solutions, true vectors, range rings and scenario objectives across crossing, head-on, overtaking, multi-ship, TSS and man overboard.
Run a scenario →Evaluation
Every run is scored on CPA margin, timing, decisiveness and rule compliance, with track playback, timeline markers and instructor critique. Pass everything to earn the certificate.
View dashboard →Open sea, good visibility. A container vessel is fine on your starboard bow on a steady bearing. You are the give-way vessel under Rule 15.
A bulk carrier is right ahead on a reciprocal course. Rule 14 applies: both vessels alter to starboard and pass port to port.
A slow tanker is fine on your port bow, same general heading. You are overtaking under Rule 13 and must keep out of her way until finally past and clear.
Three vessels in close proximity: one crossing from starboard, one head-on, one overtaking you from astern. Sea room is limited by the traffic itself — plan a single, bold manoeuvre.
You are in the north-bound lane of a TSS. A ferry is crossing the scheme at right angles from starboard and a rogue vessel is proceeding against the flow. Keep to your lane and clear of the separation zone.
Four-step Williamson turn with strict timing and heading tolerances, wind drift on the casualty.
